Pre-season Coaches Report: Craig Hayes

It has been a fantastic pre-season with the playing group getting a full 4 weeks under their belt prior to the Xmas break.  We have now been back a couple weeks and are already some significant improvement on the fitness of the players in comparison to this time last year.

The club has had a very productive off season with a number of new players signing with the club before Xmas.  Among these players are:

Kane Tenace who is an extremely fit, hard running midfielder, who uses the footy very well.  Kane has numerous years of Division 1 senior experience with Eltham and Lower Plenty;

Ollie Parks who is a fantastic contested mark and will add some much needed height and fire power to our forward line.  Ollie has Division 1 senior experience with Lower Plenty and had a year with Old Ivanhoe in the VAFA;

Brad Perry who is a dynamic tough midfielder, extremely strong overhead and uses the footy very well and will add some firepower to our forward line.  Brad has played senior footy with a number of clubs and will be a valuable addition to our playing group.

Nathan Sleep who is a smooth moving midfielder/forward who will provide quality ball use.  Nathan is coming back from a significant injury which saw him miss all of last season, however he has recovered fully from this and is training very well.  Nathan has also played a number of senior games with Lower Plenty.

Mathew Aquilina who is a very fast forward/midfielder, who has impressed at training.  Matt is also overcoming a significant injury which kept him out of football last year.  Matt has played senior footy with Bundoora and Mernda, playing in Bundoora seniors premiership.

Ryan Burrell has returned to the club and will be a great asset with his leadership and fantastic work ethic.  Tigs will add some much needed run and drive to our group.

These additions make for what I think will be a very exciting year.
